Zella D. Hughes, age 101, passed away at her residence, Monday, November 14, 2011. She was a member of the Clintwood United Methodist Church. Miss Hughes taught school for forty two years. Miss Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Cora Vanover Hughes, two brothers, Newton Hughes and Clarence Hughes and one sister, Vonda Wilson. Survivors are five nieces; Lochiel Rasnick and husband Frank of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Deanna Reas and husband Robert of Troy, Ohio, Sue Hopkins and husband Kenneth of Kingsport, Tennessee, Barbara Seay and husband Bill and Pamela Wells all of Knoxville, Tennessee; one nephew, Robert Hughes and wife Nina of Piney Flats, Tennessee; several great nieces and nephews. Other survivors are special friends, Frankie Keith and Ann Rose. Funeral services will be conducted in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, November 17th, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Dan Theiban officiating. Burial will follow at the Powers Cemetery on Coeburn Road. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm.
