Yancey Jay Stanley, age 52, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He was a former resident of Dickenson County. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Artie Robinson Stanley and two brothers, Maverick Stanley and Oliver W. Stanley. Survivors include nine sisters; Hattie June Hamilton of Coeburn, Virginia, Sandra Jean Hayes and husband Bobby of Rocky Face, Georgia, Stella Gaye Simms and husband, Frank of Etowah, Tennessee, Rita Hamilton of Coeburn, Nancy Neece and husband Roger of Clintwood, Cola Fletcher and husband Ray of Dalton, Georgia, Mary Baker and husband Richard of Clintwood, Sherry Samples and husband Henry of Cohutta, Georgia and Tammy Plumly and husband Rodney of Chatsworth, Georgia; three brothers, Gerald Stanley and wife Anna of Coeburn, Robert Stanley and wife Thelma of Cohutta, Georgia and Earl Day Stanley of Clintwood; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 2nd, 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Cantrell and Lester Mullins officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 3rd, 11:00 am at the Stanley Family Cemetery, Coeburn, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Wednesday, 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
