Rev. Vernon Rose age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 14, 2010. He was a Godly Father and Minister to all who knew him. A life long resident of Dickenson County, he was the son of the late Jeff and Lula Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years Nannie Bell Rose and one son Ronald Dean Rose, along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith where he was a preacher for over 50 years. He was the former pastor of the Dwale Community Church. Surviving are his children; Larry Rose and wife Audrey, Oneida, KY, Kerry Rose and wife Wanda, Surgoinsville, TN, Jeff Rose and wife Cherry, Clintwood, VA, Chester Lee Rose, Wise, VA, Joe Rose, Clintwood,VA Daughter in law Pat Rose, Clintwood, VA, Rocky Rose and wife Tammy, Wise, VA, Janice Stapleton, Kingsport, TN, Dottie Weaver and husband Tod, Kingsport, TN, Charlotte Willis and husband Joe, Clintwood,VA, . 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A special care giver and friend Virginia Jones. Funeral Service for Rev. Vernon Rose will be conducted 7:30 PM Monday August 16, 2010 at the Clintwood Funeral Home chapel with Darrell Milgrim and Palmer Leftwich officiating. Burial will follow with graveside services 11:00 AM Tue. August 17, 2010 at the Rose Family Cemetery on Caney Ridge. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Norman C. Ratliffe and David Vanover. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home. Procession to cemetery will meet Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM.
