William Russell Childress age 51, passed away Friday April 2, 2021 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born in Norton, Virginia, graduated from Thomas Walker High School, attended Clinch Valley College and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with family, the outdoors and sports from football to auto racing.

He is survived by his parents Richard and Barbara Childress of Clintwood, one brother Rick Childress and wife Shandee of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews, survived by his aunts, uncles and host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Sunday April 4, 2021 at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with a service at 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Monday with Glenn Slemp and Lester Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanley Family Cemetery, Stone Hollow community of Clintwood. Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Services will be held under the current COVID 19 guidelines set forth by the governor of Virginia.
