Walter Lee Browning, age 83, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. Mr. Browning was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean War, a retired UMWA coal miner and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Browning was preceded in death by his parents, Gilmer and Lula Browning, wife, Dora Mullins Browning, five brothers and five sisters. Survivors include two sons, Larry Browning and wife Veronica of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Wayne Browning of Clintwood; grandson, William Lee Browning; special niece Rita Menchaca and husband Larry of El Paso, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 25th, 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Price officiating. Family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Browning Family Cemetery, Browning Hollow. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Menchaca, Jackie Mullins, Lloyd Mullins, Truman Large, Albert Large, Jackie Large and Doug Fleming.
