Obituary

Vona Mullins, age 82, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Clintwood. Mrs. Mullins was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County. She was a member of the Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church and was retired from the Dickenson County School System. Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her husband, Kelse Mullins; parents, Gillie and Pearl Mullins; brothers, Webb, William Gip, Parkis (Chief), Ersle, Kay, Eck and Thadeus Oak Mullins; one sister, Nita Ratliff. Survivors are her son Charles Mullins and wife Leisa of Piney Flats, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Derrick Mullins and Sarah Mullins, both of Piney Flats, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 20th, 7:00 pm at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church with Lester Mullins and Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church at 10:30 am on Sunday, April 21st, to proceed to Phipps Memorial Cemetery for graveside services at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Junior Dutton, Tommy Phipps, Robert Phipps, Dennis Kennedy, Jimmy Vance, Ed Yates, Stuart Mullins and Richard Childress. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm Saturday at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.
