Virginia "Sissy" Janette Surrett age 52, passed away Wed. January 10, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of the late James "Jader "and Magdelene Surrett. She attended Ervinton High School and was a member of West Dante Community Church. She loved everyone she met and will be greatly missed

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donnie, Timmy and Ronnie Barton, sisters, Judy Counts, Kathy Sullivan and Phyllis Johnson. In laws, Butch Wilson, Brian McConnel, Gary Matney and Chell Barton.

Survivors include her brother James Surrett of Wise, Virginia and sisters, Vivian McConnell, Coeburn, Virginia, Wanda Matney of Wise, Virginia, Donna Duncan and husband Bill of Dante, Virginia and Brenda Wilson of Big Stone Gap, Virginia and sister-in-law Twyla Barton of Ceres, Virginia. Special caregivers Darlene Sperow and Jo Jo Stanley.

Funeral Services for Virginia Surrett will be conducted 1 PM Saturday January 13, 2024 West Dante Community Church with Pastor Danny Meade officiating. Burial will follow at the Salyers Cemetery, Sandy Ridge Road.  Pallbearers will be family and friends, honorary pallbearers will be Bill Duncan, Kenny Barton, Junior Barton, Billy Duncan and James Surrett. The family will receive friends from 12 noon till service time.
