Obituary

*Burial will take place at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, VA in the Chapel of love. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery will meet at Clintwood Funeral Home at 11:30 AM Sunday.* Richard Thurman Large, 87, passed away Friday, February, 20, 2015 at Dickenson Community Hospital. Mr. Large was drafted into the Navy at the end of World War II and was stationed in Japan. He was drafted a second time into the Army and served in Korea. He was a retired UMWA coal miner. He was a member of the Lick Fork Church and Veterans of Foreign War. Mr. large was an avid coon hunter and got his first hound when he was ten years old and hunted until he was 80. He lived life to the fullest, loved his family with all his heart and would do anything to help a friend or neighbor. In his later life his world revolved around his grandchildren. Mr. Large was preceded in death by his wife, Buena Large; parents, Reverend Richard and Bessie Large; two brothers, Lewis Large and Trig Large; four sisters, Pearl Hughes, Vonda Hughes, Faye Powers and Janice Vanover. Survivors include his son, Michael Large and wife Savannah; two daughters, Jamie Fleming and husband Todd and Charlotte Large; four grandchildren, Jensen Gray Large, Brylan Rayne Large, Raygan Fay McFall and Lily Ann Fleming; one sister, Alene Lambert; two brothers, Albert Large and Bill Large. Several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Clintwood Funeral Home chapel with Allen Viers officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until time of service. Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2015 in the Chapel of Love at Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery will meet at Clintwood Funeral Home at 11:30 AM Sunday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Journey with JR.
