Sylvia Mae Rose age 85, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Rose was born in Dickenson County, Virginia to the late Allen and Sarah Stevens Duty. She lived in Washington County, Virginia for many years.  She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Sarah Stevens Duty; husband, Virgil Rose; her son, Terry Rose; 3 brothers, Howard, Charlie and James Duty; her sister, Nanny Gay Rose; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Rose.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Rose of Sugar Grove, Virginia; daughter, Rosella Walley of Marion, Virginia; 2 grandchildren, John and Samantha Cantrell; 5  great grandchildren, Sarah Rose Cantrell, Noah Wesley Cantrell, Rylie Cantrell, Cheyenne Cantrell and John Standridge; 2 great-great grandchildren, Aidan and Mason Stillwell; her sister, Martilla Holbrook of Dante, Virginia; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 1 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Fuller officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until time of service. Burial will follow in the Stevens Family Cemetery, Clinchco, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
