Nina Lee "Sis" Yates age 88, stepped into the arms of our loving Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 26th, 2017.  She was born on June 17, 1928, the 5th of 7 children, to Roy and Stella Sauls.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all 5 of her brothers, Eb, Guy, Jack, Glenn, and Carl.  She also gave up 2 husbands; Benny's Daddy, Morris Yates and later Derwood Yates.  She was also preceded in death by her first daughter-in-law, Gina Gardner Yates.

Mrs. Yates is survived by her son Benny Maston Yates and wife Susie of Abingdon; one sister, Helen "Tot" Honaker of Honaker, VA; her "2nd" son Dennis Yates and wife Debbie of Fredericksburg, VA; sisters-in-law Lillian Sifers and husband Bill of Powhatan, VA and Betty Sauls of Clintwood; a dear relative by marriage, Audrey Stanley of Pensacola, FL; many nieces nephews, cousins and friends; all of her church families in Washington and Dickenson counties.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28th at the West Main Freewill Baptist Church in Abingdon, Virginia beginning at 5:00 PM until time of song service at 7:00 PM.  Willis Osborne and Eddie Gobble will be in charge of service.  Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 29th in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 1:00 PM with Franklin Hall, Joe Glenn Sluss and Gary Stanley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Yates Cemetery on Caney Ridge.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flower memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Charity.
