Shirley Marie Slemp, age 66, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia. Mrs. Slemp was a life long residence of Dickenson County and attended Davis Chapel Church. Mrs. Slemp was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Bertie Turner Rose and a sister, Judy Arnold. Survivors include her husband of thirty five years, Ralph Slemp; three sons, Denny Rose and wife Trish and Johnny Darrell Rose all of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Michael Slemp of Coeburn, Virginia; two daughters, Lana Slemp of Coeburn, Virginia and Pam Slemp Kilgore of Pound, Virginia; five brothers, Larry Rose and Bobby Rose of Clintwood, Wayne Rose of Malden, Missouri, Scotty Rose of Abingdon, Virginia, Robert Johnson of Defiance Ohio; four sisters, Teresa Slemp, Diane Rose, Ruth Mullins all of Clintwood, and Linda Rose of South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, Nikki Rose, Chasity Carico, Adrianne Steffey, Josh Rose, Seth Jones, Sabrina Ellis, Chris Rose, Jarred Rose, Tyler Slemp, Madison Slemp, Whitney Slemp, Katie Kilgore and Jimmy Brock. Services will be held Friday, December 2nd, in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clifford Bevins officiating. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, December 3rd at the Slemp Family Cemetery,Coeburn Road. Anyone wishing to follow the procession to the cemetery meet at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Friday after 6:00 pm, Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel.
