Sandra Yvonne Puckett, 73, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. Mrs. Puckett was born in Clintwood and graduated from Clintwood High School. She attended Carson Newman College and completed college at John Tyler in Richmond, Virginia where she became one of the first female licensed Virginia Funeral Directors. She and her father operated Clintwood Colley Funeral for many years. She retired from Peoples Life Insurance Company. She was a Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow member. Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her father, Ferris Colley. Survivors include her husband, Roger Puckett; mother, Dollie Colley both of Clintwood; two sons, Roger Lee Puckett, Jr. and wife Cindi of Big Stone Gap, Virginia and Robert Shawn Puckett and wife Paige of Clintwood; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren . Special thanks to Paige Puckett for being her caregiver for the past year. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18th in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 5:00 pm. A service will be held at 7:00 pm with Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19th in the Peuther Chapel Church beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Carty Cemetery on Caney Ridge with church deacons and grandsons serving as pallbearers.
