Sammy Larkin Carty age 67, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and retired from the Dickenson County School System, maintenance department. Mr. Carty enjoyed family time, outdoors and fishing.  He was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Carty was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin and Delores Carty; four brothers, Micky, Gary, Avery and Elmer Carty; one sister, Zelma McKenzie; two daughters, Lee Ann Campbell and Angie Mullins; sister-in-law, Beverly Carty.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Carty of Coeburn; three sons, James Larkin Carty and Jessica of Clinchco, Clay Carty and Rebekah of Coeburn, Chuck Johnson and Stacie of Clintwood; one daughter, Pamela Moore and Steve of Clintwood; three brothers, Bobby Carty and Terri of Ocala, Forida, Freddie Carty of Coeburn, Troy Carty and Tammy of Kingsport, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 10th, at 1 pm at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Kyle Rose and Gary Stanley officiating. Visitation will begin at Noon. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home Kennedy Cemetery, Hiram Ridge, Coeburn. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
