Roy Hawkins, Jr., 78, passed away Saturday March 17, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Roy made his home with his brother and sister-in-law Walter and Irene Hawkins for the past fourteen years, and was the son of the late Roy Hawkins, Sr. and Cora Baker Hawkins. He a veteran of the US Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his mother Cora, father, Roy, and step-mother Emma who raised him; two brothers, Fred and Bill Hawkins. He is survived by his brother Walter Hawkins and wife Irene of Clintwood; Don Hawkins and wife Eva of Wisconsin, Rodney Hawkins and wife Kathy of Clintwood; sister Kate Gill, Clintwood; step-sister, Pat Sanders and husband Bill of Coeburn; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Roy Hawkins, Jr. will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Lester Mullins and Don Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hawkins Family Cemetery on Longs Fork with military graveside services conducted by Clintwood VFW Post 8979, DAV Chapter 35, and American Legion Post 227. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home, with services to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
