Rose A. Rush, age 108, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Dickenson Community Hospital. Miss Rush was a resident of Clintwood for more than eighty years and was retired from the Dickenson County School System. She was a graduate of George Peabody College, now known as Vanderbilt University. Miss Rush was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Virginia Fulton Rush, four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include three nieces; Louise Sutherland of Clintwood, Jane Lyon of Richmond, Virginia and Catherine Stookey of Wood River, Illinois; three nephews, William Sutherland of Abingdon, Virginia, Fred Sutherland of Sandston, Virginia and David French of Alabama; several grand nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends Friday, August 9th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at the Clintwood United Methodist Church with pastors Dan Theiban and Ronnie Mutter officiating, Saturday, August 10th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood.
