Obituary

William Roger "Mutt" Neece, age 59, passed away at home on March 30, 2015. He was a 1973 graduate of Ervinton High School and worked 34 years as a coal miner. He loved short track racing having won 204 races and 10 Championships. Mr, Neece was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bea Neece of Trammel, Virginia. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sharon (Nancy); special brother-in-law Earl Stanley of the home; one sister Shirley Salyer of Abingdon, Virginia; three brothers, Oscar Neece, Jr. of Wise, Virginia, Ray Neece of Dante, Virginia, and Tim Neece of Nora, Virginia; special nephews, Jimmy Stanley, Cossie Elswick, Marvin Allison and David Samples; special nieces Colena Elswick and Dee Dee Blevins. Special thanks to Rob Stanley, Robbie Stanley, Sherry Samples and Cola Fletcher all of Georgia, Mary Baker of Clintwood and Annette Ratliff of Haysi. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 2nd, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Puether Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Caney Ridge. Funeral services will be conducted at the church Friday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm with Phillip Bates and Freddie Phillips officiating. Mr. Neece will be laid to rest in the Neece-Hale Family Cemetery on Bear Ridge. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Stanley, Cossie Elswick, Marvin Allison, Joey Sykes and David Samples. Peuhter Chapel address is 842 DC Caney Ridge Road Clintwood, VA 24228
