Obituary

Rodney Allen Hawkins, age 50, passed away Sunday, March 6th, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hawkins was a life long resident of Clintwood. He graduated from Clintwood High School, where he played on two state champion football teams. He was owner and operator of Double H. Trucking for twenty eight years. Mr. Hawkins was a member of the Clintwood Bible Church. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Emma Huffman Hawkins, three brothers: Roy Hawkins, Jr., Bill Hawkins, and Fred Hawkins and mother-in-law Janet Lyall. Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Cathy Hawkins and son, Drew Hawkins. Other survivors include two brothers, Walter Hawkins and wife Irene of Clintwood and Don Hawkins and wife Eva of Eagle River, Wisconsin; two sisters, Pat Sanders and husband, Bill of Coeburn, and Kate Hawkins of Clintwood. Additional survivors are several nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Alvin Lyall, two brothers-in-law, Mike Lyall and wife Leann, all from Clintwood, Matt Lyall and wife Tara from Blountville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 9th, 11:00 AM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Hawkins Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Shortt, Dennis Stanley, Ricky Mullins, Greg Willis, Craig Willis, Johnny Elkins, Dale Stanley and Walter Reed. Honorary pallbearers are nephews David Sanders, Walter Hawkins, Jr., Billy Hawkins, Craig Hawkins, Martin Hawkins and Mark Hawkins. Family will receive friends Tuesday after 6:00 PM.
