Robert A. Rose, age 68, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. He was born in Dickenson County, the son of the late Paul and Bertha Rose. Mr. Rose was a graduate of Clintwood High School and a Veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam. He was retired from the Mine Safety Health Administration, loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bertha Rose and one sister Ava Rose.

Survivors include his son Christopher Allen Rose of King, North Carolina; daughter Melissa Ann Rose (Mike Williams) of Chapmanville, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Rashell Barton, Tailer Rose, Amber Rose, Kaleb Rose, Georgia Lunsfund and Jeff Rose; one great grandchildren, Jordan Barton; three sisters, Vivian Phipps and husband Donald, Patsy Mullins and husband Jimmy and Jenny Mullins and husband Ronnie all of Clintwood, Virginia; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to send a special thank you to caregiver, Pamela Dingess.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 27th at 2:00 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Hall officiating. Family will receive friends beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the McFall Cemetery, Osborne Gap. Pallbearers will be Joe Phipps, Don Phipps, Ronnie Dale Mullins, Chris Rose, Mike Williams, Jimmy Mullins and Ronnie Rose. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 8979.
