Robert Randy
Rose
Jul 12, 1959 — Oct 19, 2026
St. Paul, Virginia
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Randy Rose. A deeply cherished husband, dad, granddad, great-granddad, brother, uncle and friend. Randy peacefully left this world on October 19, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
Born on July 13, 1959, in the close-knit community of West Dante, Virginia. Randy was the beloved son of Harless and Alice Mullins Rose. He grew up in a family that valued faith, kindness, and togetherness. Though he has joined his parents and siblings, Jimmy, Cecil, Jr., Franklin, Emma Jean, Ruth, Goldie, and Kathy in eternal rest, his spirit endures in the hearts of those who remain.
Randy shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Cheryl Phillips Rose. Married on July 3, 1982, Randy and Cheryl celebrated 44 years of unwavering love and partnership. Together they raised their daughter Mary Dingus, and cultivated a home filled with laughter and joy. Randy was immensely proud of his family, including his son-in-law Jamie, grandchildren Alyssa, Cailin, and Dekotah (Hannah), and great-grandchildren Aubri, Cora, Lynleigh, Krismas and Almond. His loyal chihuahua, Nico, was often by his side, providing companionship and joy.
A man of faith and service. Randy was a devoted member of the West Dante Community Church. He embraced the teachings of his dad, living a life guided by the principle of JOY – Jesus first, Others second and Yourself last. Baptized into the family of God on January 1, 1985, Randy found solace and purpose in expressing his devotion through music. His talents illuminated many church services as he played instruments and lifted his voice in songs of praise.
Randy’s career in the coal mines and as a truck driver shaped his work ethic and instilled in him a resilience that he carried into all aspects of his life. He was known for his mechanical ingenuity, relishing the challenge of taking things apart and putting them back together. Whether or not his creations always work, Randy’s determination and creativity were inspiring. He was ever ready to lend a hand, often going the extra mile to help those in need.
Those who knew Randy will remember his warm smile, generous spirit, and love for the outdoors. His garage, affectionately known as his “man cave,” was a sanctuary where he found peace and contentment.
Randy is survived by his cherished siblings Barney(Mildred), Bobby(Tammera), Mary, Lois(Kyle), Alice(Jimmy), Faye, and Robin(Rick), who will continue to honor his legacy of love and kindness.
In accordance with Randy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, just burial. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to pay it forward for someone in the grocery store, drive thru line, restaurant, etc., honoring Randy’s enduring spirit of giving.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take comfort in knowing that Randy’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, October 21st, 2 pm at Skeens Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. Jamie Dingus will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
