Rita Jean Vance age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Mrs. Vance was born on Nealy Ridge and was a graduate of Haysi High School. She worked for the Dickenson County Commissioners Office and owned a fabric shop, where she custom made draperies. She also worked in her apple orchard. Mrs. Vance was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid bowler.

Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Vance; parents, Arthur and Susie Counts; brothers, Lyman Counts ,Durwood Counts and Wayne Counts, sisters, Charlotte Counts, Lorraine Blevins and Paula Gregory.

Survivors include her son, Chris Vance and wife Darlene of Clintwood; daughter, Betsy Yates of Rutledge, Tennessee; grandchildren, Barry Yates, Jessica Robinson and husband Brandon of Coeburn; great grandchildren, Abby Robinson and Jamie Robinson; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20 ^th , 7 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lynn Vanover officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 pm. Entombment will be Sunday, May 21 ^st , 2 pm at Rugsby Church Cemetery, Caney Ridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Yates, Barry yates and Brandon Robinson. Everyone is requested to meet at the cemetery.
