Obituary

William Ridley Elkins age 77, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020.  He was born in Clintwood and was a retired coal miner.  Mr. Elkins was a Veteran of the United States Army, 101 st Airborne, a Mason and Shriner member. He was an avid blood donor, loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Gerry Elkins; parents, Troy Jake Elkins and Sarah Elkins; grandson, Travis Gabe Creech.

Survivors include his son, William Ridley Elkins, Jr. and Amy of Pound; 2 daughters, Vanessa Ison and Veronica Gaye McCoy both of Clintwood; stepmother, Peg Elkins of Clintwood; brother, Frank Elkins and Lisa of Dean, Kentucky; sisters, Elizabeth Adams and Richard of Kingsport, Tennessee, Sandy Mullins and Hank of Coeburn, Janet Hays and Bobby of Kingsport, Tennessee; grandchildren, Leah Jett, Callie Jervis, Sally Johnson, Taylor Cress, Livi Elkins and Dane Elkins; great-grandchildren, Harley Jett, Cooper Jett, Gunner McCoy, Lucy McCoy, Paisley Jervis, Willow Jervis, Luke Cress and Jalyn Cress.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25th, 3 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Denver Davidson and Greg Cyphers officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Shriners Charities.
