Clintwood, Virginia Ralph Edward Stanley, age 91, passed away Wednesday, April 13th, 2011 at the Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Norton, Virginia. Mr. Stanley was a life long resident of Virginia, living in Fairfax and Dickenson County. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. He was a member of the UMWA and retired from Cave Branch Coal Company. Mr. Stanley was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Rushie Bise Stanley, three brothers, Banner Stanley, Junior Stanley, Kenneth Stanley and one sister Agnes Vanover. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Lee Stanley, son Robert Stanley and wife Pam all of Clintwood, Virginia. Other survivors; two sisters, Thelma Chambers and husband Kedric of Front Royal, Virginia, Ivis Johnson of Bristol, Virginia, step-sister Letitia Stiltner of Clintwood, Virginia, two grandsons, Grant and Patrick Stanley, granddaughter Amanda Stanley, special nieces and nephews, Dennie Vanover and wife Judy, Gwendolyn Perry and husband Earl, Catherine South, Louise Vanover and Linda Ramey and husband Eddie. Special thanks to Dickenson County Home Health and Community Home Care and to two special ladies Kathy Adkins and Dinah Rose plus all neighbors who helped Mr. Stanley and family. Graveside services at Peuther Chapel Church Cemetery will be conducted, Saturday, April 16th at 1:00 PM with Joe Glenn Sluss, Lynn Vanover and Carl Rose officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends, Friday at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 PM with a service beginning at 7:00 PM.
