Pearl Roberts Carter was born to Mima Lowe and John Wesley Roberts in the Dorchester community of Wise County. She married Wright Carter of Duffield on Nov. 16, 1936. Pearl, Wright, and their two children, Wright Carter Jr. and Janice Rae Carter Cooley, lived on their farm in Duffield and then in Clintwood. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, her aunt, Lona Roberts, and by her three brothers, John Lloyd, Haskel, and Shelby Roberts. She is also preceded by her beloved husband and two children.
