Obituary

Nicole Josette Junak Rife born on July 23, 1945 in Chartrettes, France earned her angel wings July 8, 2014. Her parents, Michael and Anastasia Junak from France, and sister, Justine Walters of Sedona, Arizona preceded her in death. Her family were victims of World War II, who escaped concentration camps in Germany and Russia and became reunited in France where Nicole was born. This reunion produced not only the birth of our mother, but also the marriage of her sister Justine to John S. Walters. Nicole grew up in the South of France on a farm. Thus grew her love of animals, fresh wild flowers, painting and people. Nicole attended Catholic Schools in France and college in San Antos, California. She met the love of her life, Tommy Gene Rife and were married 51 years ago on November 18, 1963. They returned to America to begin their lives in Clintwood, Va. Nicole is survived by 4 living children: Robert Rife, Michael Rife, Dominique Rife, and Anthony Rife. Her son Christopher Rife was called to be an angel upon his birth. Nicole's grandchildren: Adrianna, Andrea, Monique, Gabrielle, Alexander, Zachary, Haley, Kasey and her great grandson Chase. She loved her family most of all. Applying her elegance and art into our family, Nicole became the loving and spiritual foundation of the Rife family. Her love of life and people led her to join groups such as the Red Hat Society of Clintwood and The Pioneer Art League. She also volunteered at Dickenson County Hospital and donated to open a gift shop there. Her work ethic assisted to bring Hardees Restaurant into Clintwood and 3 Bonanza Restaurants into Dickenson and Wise Counties. Her gift of giving herself was unlimited to all she knew. She had a love of the Lord instilled to her from birth and into death. She loved praising God and worshipping with people who shared that special love of God and Church. A celebration of life will be held at 6PM Friday July 11, 2014 at the Clintwood Baptist Church. Family will receive friends after 4PM. Surely Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of our lives. And We, shall dwell in the house of the Lord, forever. Amen
