Van Michael Skeen, 49, died at Heritage Hall Health Care, Clintwood on Friday, March 14, 2008 after a long courageous battle with Huntington's disease. He was a 1977 graduate of Clintwood High School, and of the Baptist Faith. He was the son of the late Van William and Mary Sue Brummitt Skeen. His maternal grandparents, William Paul and Maude Brummitt, paternal grandparents, James Henry and Emily Skeen; special aunt, Betty Dugan, and special uncles, Jack, Ken, and Curtis Brummitt along with cousins David, Lucas and Camille preceded him in death. He had worked in Murfreesboro, TN prior to retirement. Surviving is his former wife, Kathy Woodroof, Mufreesboro, TN; and son, David (Nicole) Kennedy, Murfreesboro, TN; his sister Debbie (Calvin) Crabtree, Clintwood; uncles Charlie (Bernadette) Dugan, Lexington, KY, Randall (Jo) Brummitt, Franklin, TN, and Greg (Mary Lou) Brummitt, Ashland, KY; three grandchildren, Kaitlin, David and Vanessa. Funeral services for Van Michael Skeen will conducted at 6 PM Sunday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Vanover, Frank Hall and Sylvan Mullins officiating. Burial will follow Monday with a graveside service at 11:00 AM in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Main Street Clintwood, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The Family will receive friends from 4- 6 PM Sunday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home.
