Michael Ratliff answered the Lord's call home December 5, 2025 after an extended illness.

In Poor Bottom, KY, on April 20, 1948, Delmon and Juanita(Sykes) Ratliff had their second son, Michael Gene.  He joined his brother, Gobel, and in the years to come they were joined by Terry, Forest, and Kenny.  When Mike was 5, the family moved to Clintwood, VA, following employment for Dad.

Mike attended Clintwood High School, was drafted at age 18, and served in the Vietnam war.  After his service in the Army, he joined his brothers in Michigan.  After 10 years working in the Automobile Industry, he returned to his beloved VA home where he remained until his death.

Mike was a member of VFW and DAV where he helped his fellow comrades perform countless military funeral services.   He met and married his wife, Lucy, in May of 2013.  He was a member of Hill Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and loved his church and church family.  Two special members, Clinton Rose and Eva Grace Kelly were very dear to him.  Mike will be missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmon and Juanita Ratliff; grandparents D.M. and Sadie Ratliff and Arthur and Mary Sykes.

Cousins who were very dear to him, Larry Adkins, Sadie Dotson, Sue Bevins, Cathy Thornsbury

Jerry Adkins, and Bobby Owens (Amy).   Nieces, nephews, friends and family who had a special place in his heart.  Brother-in-law Rex Salyer and wife Sue also will miss his special humor.

Funeral services will be a 'special meal' for family and friends beginning at 4 p.m. at Valley View Church on Tuesday, Dec. 9.   Visitation will begin at 5:30 until time of service at 7 p.m. at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Keith Dotson as Clergy.   Honorary Pallbearers will be the men at Hill Ridge Freewill Baptist Church.  Pallbearers will be Nicholas Salisbury, John (Fargo) Ratliff, Shawn Mullins, Cannon Hill, Colin Hill, Charles Hill, & Carlos Stanley.  Interment will be at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens in Castlewood, VA, Dec. 10th at 12 noon.
