Mettie Marie Browning was born October 26, 1919 to Reuben and Fannie Jane Rasnick. She left this life on March 12, 2015 making her stay on earth 95 years and 6 months. She is now resting at peace with Jesus. She was married to Fred Browning in 1944 until his death in 1978. To their union was born Judy (Jackie) Mullins, Fred (Joan) Browning, Teresa (Rodney) Fleming. She was preceded in death by four children, E.J. Murphy, Bobby Murphy, Ritchie Browning, and Shirley Sutherland; four brothers, Woodrow, N.K., Delmar, and Clinas; four sisters, Eula, Nova, Alta, and Wilma; She had 16 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mom, Granny, NeNe as we all knew her was one of the greatest mothers, grandmothers, and mother-in-laws that anyone could ever wish for. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2015 in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Gabe Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in Phipps Memorial Cemetery Clintwood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2015 until time of service.
