Melissa Louise Whitt, age 44, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Whitt was a life long resident of Dickenson County. She attended Ervinton High School and was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by her father Luther Kennedy. Survivors include her mother, Lola Kennedy, daughter Amanda Whitt, two brothers Rick Kennedy and Brian Kennedy all of Clintwood, Virginia. Other survivors are three sisters; Linda Huff and husband Jimmy of Clinchco, Virginia Glenda Stanley and husband Kyle, Teresa Booker and husband Robert all of Clintwood, Virginia, two nieces Angela Stanley, Alexis Huff and two nephews, Travis Stanley and Dustin Kennedy. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 27th, 11:00 AM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers are Travis Stanley, Brandon Pratt, Jimmy Riggs, Kyle Stanley, Robert Booker, Jimmy Huff and Evan Vanover. Family will receive friends Tuesday, July 26th, after 6:00 PM with a song service at 7:00 PM.
