Melissa Cox, age 45, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at her home. She was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Ora Eversole and Vernie Chester. She was a graduate of Clintwood High School and UVA at Wise. Mrs. Cox was an employee of the State of Virginia and was a very caring and artistic person. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her father, Ora Eversole and brother, David Farmer. Survivors are her husband, Carl Cox of Saltville, Virginia; mother, Vernie Chester and husband Cleatus of Clintwood; daughter, Andrea Cox of Saltville; brother, Dwight Farmer and wife Jeanne of Grants Pass, Oregon; sister, Tria Farmer and husband, Jack of Central Point, Oregon; grandson, Carl Aaron DeBord and several nieces and nephews. A song service will be held Wednesday, July 17th, in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 7:00 pm. Pastor Lynn Vanover will be conducting the service. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, July 18th at the Rowe Cemetery, South Mountain Road. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 6:00 pm Wednesday.
