Mavis Evon Greene Baker, age 78, passed away at home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Tina Greene. Mrs. Baker was a devout Christian and a member of Counts Chapel for many years. She loved singing in the choir and cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Baker graduated from Haysi High School and retired from the Dickenson County Sheriff's Office. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her son, Walter Shane Baker; daughter, Tina Wagner; brothers, Bill Greene, Kermit Greene and Darrell Greene; sisters, Joan Collius, Pauline Edwards, Betty Collius, Linda Mooney, Margaret Edwards and Shelby Lowe.

She is survived by her husband Walter Eugene Baker; grandchildren, Sagen Vanover and husband Evan, Alexis Baker, Breyson Baker and Mazlynn Baker; great-grandchildren, Hayden Vanover, Hadley Vanover and Tucker Baker; one brother, Richard Greene and wife Lucille: several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 25th, 2026, 7 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Rose officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 pm. Graveside services will be Friday, June 26th, 11 am at Grace Cemetery, Nealy Ridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
