Mary Ruth Childress age 73, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Childress was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and was of the Baptist faith.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.  She loved her dogs.

Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ella Mae Ratliff; husband, Butch Childress; three sisters, Dorothy Brockman, Magdalene Ratliff and Wilma Stone; two brothers, Lonnie Ratliff and Fred A. Ratliff.

Survivors include her sons Robert Daniel "Bobby" Hays and wife Janet of Clintwood and Richard Butch Childress also of Clintwood; her daughter, Donna Gayle Childress of Clintwood; grandchildren, Kristopher S. Mullins, Justin A. Mullins, Donovan K. Mullins, Candi Hays, Daniel Hays and Brittany Bise; great grandchildren, Kaylee Shae Mullins, Hunter Leon Mullins, Gannon Scott Mullins and McKinnon Rachel Mullins; one sister, Shirley Hobbs of New Port Richey, Florida.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 25th, 7:00 PM in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Hall and Lester Mullins officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM.  Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 26th, to proceed to Phipps Memorial Cemetery for graveside services at 1:00 PM.
