Marvin James Hopson, 75, of 257 Eastwood Drive died Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Roman Eagle Memorial Home. He had been in declining health for six months and a resident of Roman Eagle for the past five months. Mr. Hopson was born May 15, 1932 in Clintwood, Virginia the son of Noah Hopson and Vernie Ramey Hopson. He moved to Danville in 1959 and was employed at Dan River Mills until his retirement. Mr. Hopson served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Glenwood Memorial Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. On October 1, 1955, he was married to the former Janice Dean Sluss, who survives. In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by a son, Michael Virgle Hopson of Danville, a sister, Carrie H. Webb of Clintwood, and a brother, Quentin Hopson. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence. The family will also receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2007 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home in Clintwood and the graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. from the Hopson Family Cemetery in Clintwood.
