Lynn Gayle Large, age 61, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at Mountain View Medical Center, Norton, Virginia. Mrs. Large was a lifelong resident of Clintwood and was employed at Tri-City Opticians for twenty years. She was a member of the Clintwood Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Large was preceded in death by her parents, Burns and Olive Stratton Hughes; husband, Bob Gayle; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors are her husband Danny Large of Clintwood; two sons, Bobby Gayle, Jr. and wife Kelly, and J.D. Large, all of Clintwood ; two daughters, Christy Mullins, Clintwood and Melissa Short and husband, Jonathan, Wise,Virginia; four brothers, Bud Hughes, Merriam, Kansas, Marshall Hughes, Clintwood, Calvin Hughes, Brooksville, Florida, and Roger Hughes, Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Freda Coleman, Lorton, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Dylan Mullins, Katie Mullins, Blake Gayle, Alyssa Gayle, Judah Short, Jonathan Large and Jansen Large. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3rd, at 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Lynn Vanover and Jonathan Short officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home 10:30 am on Thursday, April 4th, to proceed to Hughes Family Cemetery, Baker Ridge, for an 11:00 am graveside services. Pallbearers will be Dr. Mike Owens, Dana Smith, Shannon Looney, Hershel Elkins, Shelly Mullins, Tyler Mullins, Doug Fleming, Danny Lambert and Keeron Vanover. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Yates, Sammy Fleming, Earl Mullins, Ron Triplett, Gene Carswell, Shanghi Nickles, Dr. W. Sado and Quinten Brown. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, beginning at 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
