We lost our Angel on Earth, our Darling Mother, Lillian Mullins Rife, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Mom was 89 years old, born July 24, 1919, and was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, Virginia. Mom was preceded in death by her first two children, Robert Stuart and Bobby Ernest Rife; her Mother and Father, Maude Meade Mullins Bray and Stuart Mullins; Stepfather David Bray; husband Ernest Rife, and five brothers: Avis, Emerson, Gussie, Cecil and Kyle Mullins. Mom leaves nine surviving children: Buddy Rife (Darlene); Gene Rife (Nicole); Brenda Rife Stanley (Pete Ruchlewicz); Judy Rife Daley (Jim); Phyllis Rife Green (Mike); Patsy Rife Baker (Larry); Danny Rife (Janice); Donnie Rife (Doris); and Douglas Rife (Michelle). Mom has 16 grandchildren (Marion Bowley, Sandra Brown, Chad Lundy, Timothy Hayden; Robert Rife, Michael Rife, Dominique Brown, Anthony Rife; L. Todd Stanley and Jennifer Stanley Estrada; Jessica Daley Rives and Nicholas Daley; Michael Green and Michelle Culver; and Danny II and Dustin Rife); 27 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.. Mom is also survived by one Uncle, Ross Meade; Sister-In-Law, Shirley Rife Smith; and two first cousins on her Father Stuart's side, Ruby Fleming and Janice Stanley. Mom also has many first cousins on her Mother Maude's side, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and wonderful friends, including two of her best friends, Zetta Crabtree and Peg Wiggington. Mom was a member of the Clintwood Baptist Church for more than 35 years, where she also taught Sunday school for several years. She had the distinct honor of being the last charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Mom retired after nearly 30 years from the Clintwood Garment Factory and worked several years as a volunteer at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home and the Dickenson County Food Bank. Our Darling Mom, rest in eternal peace with God. You will be missed all the remaining days of our lives and will live forever in our hearts. We love you and treasure the time God gave us with you.
