Launa Sykes Mullins age 86 passed away Tuesday, March 19th at the Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL. Launa attended the First Baptist Church of Ocklawha, Florida. In her younger years Launa taught second grade at Steinman in Clinchco, Virginia. She married Fred Noel Fletcher and was a housewife until his death. Launa was a hard working woman and worked in sewing factories until she was 73 years old. She had a love for gardening, camping and fishing. She is preceded in death by her first husband Fred Noel Fletcher, her second husband Garnet Mullins, her parents Fred and Bessie Sykes, one sister Betty Edwards, and a grandchild Fred Noel "Freddie" Fletcher. Survivors include her children; Jimmie Noel Fletcher and wife Sally, Priscilla Brown and husband Benny, Phyllis Mullins and husband Larry; brothers, Alvin, Elmer, Frank, Bobby and Haskel Sykes and Kermit Bailey; her sisters Christine Fuller and Margie Gumm; 15 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one foster child, Jessica Walker; two special caregivers Janet Harris and Tom Hodge and a very special friend, Dr. Ronald Shelley. Funeral services for Launa S. Mullins will be conducted at 1:00 Thursday, March 28th at the Clintwood Baptist Church with Pastor Bryant Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery Main Street Clintwood. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon till service time at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
