Larkin Carty, age 87, passed away at his home Thursday August 28, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, retired from Kennedy' s Piggly Wiggly Warehouse, Norton, Virginia and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. Mr. Carty was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Cora Carty, two sons, Mickey and Gary Carty, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Deloris Carty; daughter, Zelma McKenzie and husband Earl; six sons, Avery Carty and wife Sheila, Bobby Carty and wife Terri, Freddie Carty and wife Beverly, Sammy Carty and wife Gail, Elmer Carty and wife Opal, Troy Carty and wife Tammy; one brother, Vernon Carty; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, September 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jerry Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the Kennedy-Stanley Cemetery, Caney Ridge. Pallbearers will be Samuel Shortt, Isaac Shortt, Derek McKenzie, Ray Carty,Andy Lewis, Cameron Carty, James Carty and Clay Carty. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 31, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Clintwood Funeral Home.
