Lake Helen Fleming Megee departed this life on April 30, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born on January 27, 1929 to the late Gilmer and Ida Fleming. For the past sixty five years she had made her home in Arlington, Virginia and for most of that time worked in the Food Service Department at the Pentagon. Thankfully she was not on duty when the Pentagon was hit by the terrorist's plane on September 11, 2001. Lake Helen loved life, her friends, family and country music. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one son Henry Megee of Arlington, Virginia, one granddaughter, Jessie Hewlett of Woodbridge, Virginia one great granddaughter, Megan Musser of Woodbridge, Virginia; five sisters: Estelle Staley of Manassas, Virginia, Jean Salyers and Darlene Yates of Clintwood, Virginia, Lucille Galeans of Pennsylvania, and Vivian Gilmer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Funeral services for Lake Helen Megee will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wed. May 4, 2011 at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow at the Phipps Memorial Cemetery Main Street Clintwood. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
