Kenos Bradford Baker (K.B.), 80, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 17, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, and a member of the Clintwood United Methodist Church. K.B. was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy and for many years the Mayor of Clintwood. He also served as Chief Jailor and Deputy Sheriff of Dickenson County. K.B. was preceded in death by his father, Fred P. Baker, Sr, his mother Ida Stone Baker, and two brothers Fred P. Baker, Jr., and Darrell Baker. Surviving is one daughter, Glenna Baker of Burke, VA; his sister, Edith Vanover of Clintwood; his long time companion, Ruth Owens; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Clintwood Funeral Home in Clintwood with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with ministers Rev. Bill Cahill and Gary Cope officiating. Additional graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Stone Family Cemetery by the Clintwood VFW Post 8979, DAV Chapter 35, and American Legion Post 227. Those wishing to go in the procession to the cemetery should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM on Wednesday. Active pallbearers will be Henry Vanover, Mike Skeen, Kerry Phipps, Duster Fleming, Ronald Phillips, Greg Childress, and Tim Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are, The United Methodist Women, Lacy Fleming, Jimmy B. Mullins, Eddie Baker, John Blanton, Ivan Stanley, Harold Childress, Roger Mullins, and Jimmie W. Vanover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia, PO Box 349, Norton, VA 24273, or The Clintwood United Methodist Women's Group, PO Box 237, Clintwood, VA 24228.
