Kelsie Morrison Phipps, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 25th, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on April 15, 1925, son of the late Arvil and Chloe Phipps. He was preceded in death by sisters Alma Phipps, Hazel Phipps, and Ota Mae Lockhart. Survivors include Frances and Lowell Holyfield of Wise, Virginia, with whom he resided for the last twenty-one years. He is also survived by Jequita Smith, Veronica and Jack Fulkerson, Sidney and Mavis Phipps, Faye Stimach, Clarice Moore, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Receiving of friends will be 6:00 pm on Friday, January 27th, with services conducted by Franklin Hall at 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28th, to proceed to Phipps Memorial Cemetery for graveside services. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
