Judy Rife Daley of Clintwood, Virginia (Dickenson County) and Alexandria, Virginia, peacefully passed away January 5, 2015. She was 68 years old. We will forever miss our beloved sister. Judy was born December 7, 1946, in Lick Fork, Virginia to Lillian Mullins Rife and Ernest C. Rife and was one of 11 siblings. She attended Lick Fork Elementary School, Darwin Elementary School and graduated from Clintwood High School in 1965. She worked for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, as a Research Analyst in Washington, D.C., where she authored and co-authored several documents for the Bureau on Occupational Safety and Health. She also worked briefly as a part-time Real Estate Agent. Judy attended night school for 10 years at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she obtained a degree in Economics in 1983. She retired in 1990 with 25 years of service with the Labor Department after being diagnosed with a brain tumor which resulted in several major operations. Judy was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, two brothers, Robert and Bobby and her loving sister-in-law, Nicole Rife. Survivors include her husband, James C. Daley; son Nicholas Daley; daughter Jessica Daley Rives and husband Kyle; two grandchildren, Owen James and Caleb Nicholas, all of Alexandria, Virginia; loving brothers and sisters, Buddy Rife, Gene Rife, Brenda R. Stanley (Peter Ruchlewicz), Phyllis R. Green (Michael), Patsy R. Baker (Larry), Danny Rife (Janice), Donnie Rife (Doris) and Douglas Rife (Michelle); many loving nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. The Rife and Daley Family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Clintwood Baptist Church, Clintwood, Virginia from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. A service will begin at 6:30 pm with Pastor Bill Kendrick officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at Clintwood Funeral Home at 10:30 am on Friday, January 9th, to proceed to Phipps Memorial Cemetery for graveside services beginning at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Jim Daley, Danny Rife, Donnie Rife, Douglas Rife, Michael P. Green and Michael Rife. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Rife, Gene Rife, Larry Baker, Pete Ruchlewicz Michael H. Green, Danny Rife, II, Dustin Rife, Todd Stanley, Anthony Rife and Robert Rife. The Rife and Daley family is grateful to all our family and friends who faithfully visited Judy, sent cards, loving thoughts and prayers. We also wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the loving care provided to Judy by the Heritage Hall Nursing Home Staff in Clintwood. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, National Autism Society, or Heritage Hall Resident Aid Fund.
