Joyce Stanley Baker, 75, died at her home in Clintwood on Friday January 1, 2010 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Corbett and Mae Farmer Stanley, her husband, Harold Baker, and an infant grandchild. She was a loving mother and devoted to her family and church. Joyce was a member of the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church for many years. Surviving is a son, Tim Baker and wife Veronica, Rocky Mount, VA; two daughters, Darlene Damron and husband Danny, Roanoke, VA, and Jeannie B. Monahan and husband Robert of Clintwood; two brothers, Billy Stanley, Clintwood, and Charles D. Stanley, Hays, NC; one sister, Lois Killen, Palatka, FL; grandchildren Chezdan Baker, Russell Damron, David Damron, Robbie and Jarrod Monahan; three great-grandchildren Micah Monahan, Lucas and Warren Damron. Funeral services for Joyce S. Baker will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow at the Vanover Family Cemetery on Baker Ridge. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Saturday with a service to follow at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.
