John Paul Moore, age 73, passed away Thursday March 26, 2026, at the Ballad Hospice Center of Bristol. He was the son of Paul and Louise Fleming Moore. He was a graduate of Clintwood High School and Virginia Tech; He was a member of the 4 H club as an all-star he was livestock judge with Sheep and Cattle winning honors. John later taught school in the Campbell County School System then returned home to the coal fields and began working for Clinchfield Coal Company at the Open Fork Mine. John then worked in Coal Hauling industry, owner of Cumberland Transport. His true love was farming where he had a love for horses from childhood. He loved riding and showing horses, bird hunting, and tending to cattle and hay fields.

He is preceded in death by his mother Louise Moore, his brothers Steve and Kevin Moore, grandparents Emory and Helen Moore, Estes and Oshie Fleming.

Survivors include his father Paul E. Moore, his nieces Meagan Monahan and husband Jarrod, Stevie Caroline West and husband Cody, a great niece Emryn West, nephew Braylon Moore, great nephews Callen West, Micah and Ezrah Monahan. Cousins Richard Wright, Bill Fleming, Bob Fleming and Jeff Fleming.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Monday March 30, 2026, at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Burial will follow at the Estes Fleming Cemetery, Flemington section of Clintwood. Pallbearers will be Seth Baker, Brad Mullins, Benny Vanover, John Vanover, Gary Artrip, Eric Phipps, and Tim Mullins. The family will receive friends from 12 noon till service time.
