Joseph G. Dotson, Jr., age 88, passed away, Monday, March 15, at Wellmont-Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. Mr. Dotson was a retired coal miner from Clinchfield Coal Company. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Dotson attended Lick Fork Freewill Baptist Church and belonged to the Masonic Lodge Clintwood #66. Mr. Dotson was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G. Dotson, Sr. and his wife Blanche Boggs Dotson; two brothers, Bill Dotson and Bud Dotson; four sisters, Ella June Dotson, Helen McLean, June Barrett and Virginia Dare Dotson. Survivors include two sons; Roger Dotson and wife Donna of Bristol, Virginia and Danny Dotson and wife Lynn of Johnson City Tennessee; one daughter Jody Hodge of Kingsport, Tennessee; one sister, Reba Bookhultz of Palm City Florida. Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Teresa Quinn, Cliff Dotson, Krista Harmon, Melissa Keith, Billy Dotson, Bobby Joe Graham, and Ben Graham, in addition to ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 18, 2:00 PM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Gary Stanley and Lynn Vanover officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Masons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 17 beginning at 6:00 PM with a song service at 7:00 PM.
