Jimmy Ray Rose, of Clintwood, Virginia, born on April 15, 1937, passed on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at his home on Caney Ridge, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, DeSoto and Della Carty Rose, sisters Faye Butler, Rita Mae Fern Rose, brother Mack Rose and sister-in-law Glenna Mae Rose. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sue Cruise Rose. Five children: daughter Natalie Phipps, husband Raymond; son Jason Rose, wife Mary; daughter Valerie Mullins, husband, Tony; son Russell Rose - all of Clintwood, Virginia; daughter Beverly Vanover, husband, John of Bradenton, Florida. Five grandchildren: Tyler Mullins, Tanner Mullins, Kyra Rose, Chris Jokisch, and Allison Taulbee, husband Billy, and great-grandchild Teagan Taulbee. Surviving siblings are Betty Jo Eribarne of Rutledge, Tennessee, D. S. Rose, Jr. and wife Glenda of Sebring, Florida and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mr. Rose graduated from Dickenson Memorial High School in 1955, attended Bowling Green College in Bowling Green, Kentucky, served in the Army Reserves as a staff sergeant, and then returned to what he referred to as "God's Country" on Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, Virginia, where he worked in the mining industry most of his life. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Rose Family Cemetery on Caney Ridge, at 5:00 pm, with Reverend Joe Glenn Sluss officiating.
