Jerry Lee Ratliff, age 70, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Dickenson Community Hospital. Mr. Ratliff was the son of Fred and Ella Mae Jacobs Ratliff. He was a member of Valley View Freewell Baptist Church and a life-time member of the Clintwood Rescue Squad. Mr. Ratliff worked with the Dickenson County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher. He was a friend to many and was loved by all. Mr. Ratliff was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ratliff; two sisters, Dorothy Brockman and Magdalene Ratliff; two brothers, Lonnie Ratliff and Fred A. Ratliff. Survivors are three sisters: Shirley Hobbs, New Port Richey Florida, Wilma Stone, Big Stone Gap, Virginia and Mary Ruth Childress, Clintwood, Virginia. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 31st, Valley View Freewell Baptist Church, 7:00 PM with Lynn Vanover and Palmer Leftwich officiating. Pallbearers will be deacons of the church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Clintwood Rescue Squad. A graveside service will be Monday, November 1st, 11:00 AM at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family will receive friends at the church beginning at 6:00 PM Sunday.
