Jeffery W. Smith, 43, died at the Dickenson Community Hospital on Monday March 17, 2009 after a sudden illness. He lived most of his life in Dickenson County, and worked in North Carolina prior to returning to Clintwood. He was, a member of the Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church, and preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Smith. He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Elsie Stanley Smith, Clintwood; his wife, Lisa Smith, Clintwood; one son, Derek Smith, Claremont, NC; one brother, Larry Smith, Clintwood; three beloved sisters, Sandra Pharr, Claremont, NC, Kathy Rose and Chrystal Smith, both of Clintwood; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Jeffery W. Smith will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 20, 2009 from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Dutton Cemetery on Wildcat Ridge. The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Thursday at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with a song service to follow at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
