Jeffery Lee Hammons age 50, passed away Thursday June 30, 2011 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. A life long resident of Dickenson County, 1979 graduate of Clintwood High School, He was an employee of the Dickenson County Public Service Authority for the past 2 years, was an employee of the Town of Clintwood for 30 years, He is preceded in death by his mother Cora Fay Hammons and a sister Rita Ann Hammons. Jeff was of the Baptist Faith and an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt and fish. Survivors include his wife Roberta Hammons, two daughters Summer Hilliard and husband James, Gainesville, FL. And Faith Hammons of Clintwood. One brother Bobby G. Hammons and wife Carolyn, Clintwood, three sisters Janet Gail Welch and husband Gary of Clintwood, Crystal Lynn Fletcher and Wendell Baldwin of Coeburn, VA and Alice Knuckles and husband Tom of Mansfield, OH. Nephews James and Dustin Hammons and a niece Lilly Phillips. A special friend Dale Smith whom was a father figure in Jeff's life. Funeral Service for Jeffery L. Hammons will conducted at 7PM Saturday evening July 2, at the Clintwood Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. Burial will be Sunday July 3, at 8:00 PM prior to sunset in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Main Street, Clintwood. Pallbeares will be friends of the family. The family will receive friends after 5 PM on Saturday evening in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel.
