Jeanette Davis Fleming, birthdate December 2, 1918, passed away July 20, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia. Mrs. Fleming graduated from Dickenson Memorial High School in 1936 and from Perry Business School, Brunswick, Georgia in 1937. She also attended West Virginia Business School for fourteen and half months. Mrs. Fleming was the first president of the Home Demonstration Club at Camp Creek and the first president of the Parents Teachers Association at Longs Fork Elementary School. She was one of the members of the Dickenson County planning committee responsible for the building of Clintwood High School. Mrs. Fleming worked three years in the A.S.C.S. office in Clintwood and Coeburn, manager of Fleming Grocery Store for four years at Camp Creek and did substitute teaching at Swindall Elementary School. Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her husband, Oley Lee Fleming, parents Tollie and Minnie McFall Davis, two brothers, James Roy Davis and Willie Miles Davis (Bill) and granddaughter, Michele Fleming. Survivors include two sons: Oley LaRue Fleming of Clintwood, Virginia, Roy Miles Fleming of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two daughters, Evelyn Sue Fleming Rose of Dumfries, Virginia, Remonabelle Fleming Clay of Clintwood, Virginia; one sister, Anna Carol Davis Boggs of Salem, Virginia, along with a host of friends and relatives. Mrs. Fleming is also survived by special friends, Kathleen Mullins Rasnick, Pallas Mullins, Nina Mullins, Brenda Davis Fleming and Ruby Fleming. Services will be held Saturday, July 23rd, 2011, 10:00 AM at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Fleming Point Cemetery, Camp Creek. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Wendell Rose, Donald Clay, Tommy White, Brian Chase, Kevin Hotaling, Pete Click, Mike Gulley, Donnie Jackson, Shannon Miles Fleming and Billie Ray Davis. Family will receive friends 9:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice.
