Mary Jean Keith Compton, age 86, passed away, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Heritage Hall in Clintwood, Virginia. Mrs. Compton was a former employee of Town of Clintwood and a member of Clintwood United Methodist Church, where she held several offices and sang in the choir. Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Maxie Dotson Keith, two brothers, Harold Keith and Quentin Keith and her husband of twenty six years, Jack Compton. Survivors are her two sons, Keith Allen Compton and wife, Patricia and Rodney Jaye Compton, all of Clintwood; grandchildren, Jessica Compton Henderson of Aberdeen, Maryland, Greg Compton of Clintwood and Crystal Barnette of Wise; two brothers, Charlie Keith and wife, Frankie and Alger Keith, all of Caney Ridge; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 18th, 7:00 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Theiben, Ronnie Mutter and Wayne Keith officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 am on Friday, April 19th, to proceed to Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Entombment services will begin at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Love. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 pm Thursday.
