Janice Mae Deel age 78, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia. Mrs. Deel was born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to Dickenson County in 1969.  She was of the Christian faith and was a loving mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Deel loved gardening and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Deel; parents, Elbert and Mary Hawley; her sister Shirley Merryman and 1 brother, Roger Hawley.

Survivors include 2 sons, Larry Deel and Patti of Virginia Beach, Virginia and John Deel of Bluff City, Tennessee; 2 daughters, Mary Delacruz and Chris of Clintwood, Bonnie Way and Mark of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; 1 brother, Ronnie Hawley and Bonnie of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Jaimie Deel, Megan Deel, Lindsey Deel, Jason Arrington and Adam Arrington; step-grandchildren, Adam Hughey, Michael Pennington and Bryan Pennington; great-granddaughter, Laurell Arrington.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 8 ^th , 7 pm in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Elder David O'Quinn officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 pm.  Family and friends are requested to meet Thursday, July 9 ^th , 2 pm at the Deel Family Cemetery, Davis Ridge Road, Clintwood, for a graveside service. Family and friends will serve be pallbearers.
